Barrel and receiver have correct bright finish with sprinkling of brown patina throughout. Correct steel ramrod with tulip shaped end. This firearm is fitted with long range ladder rear sight which was found on early production rifle-muskets. Maynard tape system has tape primers inside. Rear of lockplate stamped "1857". Cartouche still visible on left side of stock above trigger guard.
