2 Antique American Tiger Stripe 52 cal Rifles Same Maker
Description: From an estate sale, a pair of half stock Antique 52 cal. Percussion Rifles. Maker marked by OR Howe, both guns stamped on the barrel flat ahead of the rear sight and the back lock is also stamped and the standard lock is stamped Goulcher. The stocks on both guns are excellent with no chips, cracks or missing wood however, there are numerus dents and dings (see photos). Both stocks are Tiger Stripe maple and have aged to a uniform color (see photos). The stocks are solid (not loose) and one has a German silver nose cap, the other is brass. Brass thimbles, trigger guards and crescent butt plates. The metal finish is a mottled brown patina with some oxidation (see photos). Both guns have patch boxes. One is a round lid, two piece box with extensive engraving, the other is a 4 piece domed lid box and they both function as they should (see photos). One gun is 46" over all length with a 32" barrel the other is 43" over all with a 28" barrel (What I can see of the bores looks dark....I have not cleaned these guns) the ram rods are missing from both guns. The triggers and locks function as they should on both guns however, the percussion drum is missing on the standard lock gun (see photos). The 28" barreled gun has a back action lock, fixed rear sight and post front sight, the other gun has a rear adjustable "Buck Horn" sight and blade front sight (see photos). The butt plates and trigger guards and other fixtures are all in good condition (see photos). At the sale they said these guns were made by O.R. Howe and that O R Howe was a gunsmith in Amazonia Missouri 1850-1891 however, I live in Amazonia Missouri and have been unable to substantiate that. Everything appears old and original to my untrained eye but since I can not guarantee the origins of these guns I am offering them with a 100% satisfaction guarantee, if the do not live up to your expectations in any way return them for a full and speedy refund including your return shipping (see my feedback). We trade guns. NO FFL REQUIRED....CAN BE SHIPPED TO A RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS. I do not recommend firing any used weapon until it has been thoroughly examined by a certified gunsmith.
