Description: ANDREW WURFFLEIN Antique CITY of PHILADELPHIA MILITIA MUSKET Prussian M1809 Made in Suhl by Spangenberg & Consortium Here we present an antique Prussian Model 1809 “Potsdam” Musket by Spangenberg & Consortium, manufactured in Suhl, Prussia in the early-19th Century. This example is marked “CITY OF PHILADA” and “A. WURFFLEIN” on the breech, indicating that Andrew Wurfflein of Philadelphia was responsible for importing these and perhaps for the conversion of the weapon. This would have been used by the local militia in the years leading up to the American Civil War. The overall condition is good. Patina throughout. The action is not presently functional and will not hold half- or full-cock, we believe due to a weak sear spring. The bore is dark and smooth. The stock is solid, showing much use.
