Antique HENRY DERINGER Smoothbore MILITIA Musket
Description: Antique HENRY DERINGER Smoothbore MILITIA Musket Made Circa 1812, Converted to Percussion Here we present an antique Henry Deringer Smoothbore Militia Musket, made circa 1812 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The man whose name would eventually become recognizable all over the world for his small, single shot pistol design first made firearms for military applications. This is one such arm. It features a long, 48-inch, part-octagonal, part-round, smoothbore barrel. Rifle type sights are mounted to the barrel. This was initially produced as a flintlock but was updated to percussion to keep it in service longer. The stock is relatively short with a bronze fore end cap. There is a slender strip of walnut that extends from the cap to the muzzle to act as a spacer for the ramrod. This was made prior to there being a large standing military in the United States and would have been made on contract or for the purpose of sale to a state militia. The lock is marked “H. DERINGER” and the top of the barrel is marked the same as well as “PHILADA”. Decorative floral stamps may be found throughout the octagonal portion of the barrel. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces have a dark patina. The markings are clear and legible. The stock shows some wear but remains solid. The bore is smooth and dusty, in good condition. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a fantastic and rare example of one of Henry Deringer’s militia muskets! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 48 inches. Caliber: .55 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2475 #7175 SOLD Antique: Yes |
