Antique WATERS U.S. Model 1816 Percussion MUSKET
Description: Antique WATERS U.S. Model 1816 Percussion MUSKET Percussion Conversion Musket; Dated 1831 Here we present an antique U.S. Model 1816 Musket, made on contract by Asa Waters circa 1831 in Millbury, Massachusetts. This military musket was originally made as a flintlock and was later converted to the new and more reliable percussion ignition system. While the years in between the War of 1812 and the American Civil War may appear to be quiet, this period of American history was quite busy as more states and territories were born and settled, Native Americans were resettled, and both Native and slave rebellions were put down. Many of the Model 1816s, especially the later ones, were converted to percussion for use during the American Civil War. The back of the lock is marked “MILLBURY/1831” and the front of the lock is marked “US/A.WATERS”. The left side of the stock has inspector’s initials: including “A2” and “V”. The comb of the stock is marked with a cartouche that appears to be “LO”. The top of the barrel is marked “1831/US/JM/(P)”. Bayonet is marked “US” and “6”. Inside flat of hammer is also marked “6”. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces bear some light pin-pricking with a mostly bright finish. The markings are legible. The bore is dark. The stock is in great shape. The action on this musket is excellent, strong and crisp. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 42 inches. Caliber: .69 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1650 #6625 SOLD Antique: Yes |
