SOLD A colorful Asia Minor/Carpathian Mountain Patilla Lock Miquelet Musket, with a about a 72 caliber smoothbore, 37 1/2” part octagon, part round barrel with a heavily oxidized bore.Overall measuring about 53" long.The barrel is an overall soft brown lightly oxidized patina and features turned medial at the point of transition and a lightly scalloped nipple bolster. The Patilla style lock shows light chiseling of the bridle and hammer. There is a single silver capucine and a nickel silver triggerguard and buttplate. The Germanic Jaeger hardwood stock rates perhaps fair showing a deeply fluted butt with light comb carving and remnants of coarse carved checkering, now primarily smooth. . A later shortened ramrod is present. The lock does actually function mechanically. Possibly having been used over 100 years in remote mountain countries.Certainly conjures one's imagination of how many native hands this gun had gone through!
