C.S. Richmond 1863 Type III .58 caliber rifle-musket. 40” Round barrel with fine bore and visible rifling. Lock is marked “C.S./ Richmond, VA” and is dated 1863. Overall, the metal is a smooth gray patina with light to moderate pitting in the bolster area. M1855 type stock is in overall good condition with the exception of a 5” area, primarily on the right-side, of the forend between the top two-bands where there is wood loss, probably from getting too close to a campfire. Stock has the expected brass butt plate and forend cap, there are no cracks or chips. Hammer screw is a replacement and the bottom sling swivel is missing. This Type III Confederate Richmond rifle-musket has obviously seen service usage. The action works correctly. Don’t miss this
