c1870s MICHIGAN W.K. STRONG LONG RIFLE .36 Caliber Half-Stock Maple Antique Half-Stock, Octagonal Barrel, Double Set Trigger
Description: c1870s MICHIGAN W.K. STRONG LONG RIFLE .36 Caliber Half-Stock Maple Antique Half-Stock, Octagonal Barrel, Double Set Trigger Here we present an antique W.K. Strong Half Stock Percussion Long Rifle, made circa the 1870s in Big Rapids, Michigan. William K. Strong was an active gunmaker in Big Rapids between the years of 1872 to 1884. Its stout octagonal barrel is in .36 caliber, large enough to take small to medium sized game or to defend the homestead against unwanted aggression. This one features a relatively short overall length and a handsome maple stock. Double set trigger. Rifle manufacture in the mid-to-late 19th Century was rapidly changing over from thousands of craftsmen all over the United States and on the Frontier making and selling their wares, to the large factories with standardized assembly lines and modern manufacturing techniques. It is interesting to note that while Strong was still building rifles in this traditional way, Winchester was producing the Model 1866, 1873, and 1876 rifles, all repeaters and very capable. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is clear and remains in good shape (aged). This example sports a solid stock with a small crack on the left side (stable). “W.K. STRONG” is stamped atop the table. “N. ASHMORE” engraved lock. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 30-1/4 inches. Caliber: .36 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2375 #215294 SOLD Antique: Yes |
