Confederate Assemled Brown Bess Conversion
Description: .Wth a caliber of 69 cal.,and a 37” United States flintlock musket barrel with Eaglehead and VP firing proofs and a moderately oxidized bore. The barrel is an overall soft brown patina with minor pitting its full length and a steel underrib with dual ramrod thimbles affixed, a simple bead front sight at the muzzle. The Tower “GR” beneath crown Brown Bess lock and lightly engraved percussion hammer are a plum patina also, with the same scattered oxidation. There is a simple brass ramrod tailpipe and a Second Model Brown Bess triggerguard with pronounced teats front and rear, the buttplate appears very Sea Service-like. The American walnut buttstock rates perhaps very good showing an old cleaning years ago, but still with good stock flats and numerous small chips or splits scattered about the surface. The nipple has broken off however the lock is mechanically functional with a very robust hammer spring, there is an antique ramrod present. Nipple is shortened.. Most likely assembled from early parts for the Confederacy that had a severe shortage of servicable muskets/rifles beginning of CW 1860. Price: $850.00 Contact Seller |
