Description:
This is a very late Durs Egg rifle with a Birds Eye Maple stock. It has a 26 inch barrel with strong rifling that has some light oxidation. This would have been made in the later years of Durs Egg life as he passed in 1831, so the gun probably dates to the 1820's. It has a two leaf rear sight with one standing. It weighs 5 pounds 5 ounces. Guns from this Swiss born English maker are rare and here is your chance to own history. The lock is marked Durs Egg, London. He was known for his work with the Ferguson Rifle in the 1770's and made many inovations in the gun world to include works to improve the percussion ignition system. This gun is about 200 years old and could be used today. Check it out with the ZOOM.
