German Jaeger Percussion Rifle, Unknown Maker, .62 caliber, 7 groove 29” swamped octagonal barrel with bayonet lugs, OAL 45”. Full length walnut stock fastened with heavy brass mounts with 3 ramrod pipes with heavy brass ramrod intact appearing original. Unmarked lock converted from flint to percussion, frizzen has been replaced by nipple guard/ safety. Equipped with double set triggers with brass furniture throughout including brass nose cap, heavy brass buttplate as well as brass hand rest with finger groove triggerguard. Rear sling swivel present directly behind triggerguard. Single blade front sight with double leaf folding rear sight. Sliding wood patchbox with push button release on right side of stock with raised cheekpiece opposite. Right side of stock shows circular stamp with, “P” marked in center surrounded with unknown script, possible ordinance mark or makers mark. Good condition overall with nicely toned brass mounts with rest of metal showing a dark brown patina throughout with some scattered pitting on lock & barrel. Stock is very good having old refinish. Mechanically functional with good bore showing strong rifling with mild pitting.
