Description: This is a well made kentucky style half-stock long rifle circa. mid 1800s .34 heavy barrled. made by the well known J Bown & sons. widely attributed for promoting the Pennsylvania style kentucky rifle the barrel is marked with Bown's name as well as S.F. Gorden (probably the barrel maker) or maybe the owner. it has a well known Joseph Golscher lock with light engraveing and set of single action double set triggers. It has a very good bore and is in excellent overall condition considering it's age. The stock is in very nice condition wood is very sound and strong with an attractive carved cheek piece with brass furniture. Ornate triggerguard, Patch box and deeply curved butt plate .mechanically it is in very good shape.the gun presents nicely and would look great over a fire place or as a wall decorator in a den or gun room.the barrel is 36" and over all it is 53" long.
