Latimer Colburn & Co Cincinatti Ohio Percussion Kentucky Long Rifle .44 Caliber 1850's L.C.C.& L.

Description:
We can't find much out about this one. The lock is marked L.C.C.& L. Cincinnati O. Our research yields Latimer Colburn & Co who were lock and hardware manufacturers in Ohio from 1856-1861. Gun retains a pleasing patina overall. Some minor rust and pitting here and there. We do not see any makers marking on the top of the barrel. 43 3/4 inch octagon barrel. Full stocked. About 59 1/2 inches long overall. Brass mounted. The hammer does not hold at full or half cock. The double set triggers do not engage, possibly replaced. Needs some work. There is a crack behind the lock on the right side of the stock, and a crack in the left side by the top of the sideplate, both are visible in the pictures. Tiger Stripe Maple stock shows handling marks and wear from use. Bore is dirty with strong rifling. All in all, a really good presenting Kentucky rifle made in Ohio right before the Civil War.
