 A Early & Very Scarce Model 1851 U.S. Percussion "Virginia Military Institute" Example Of A Cadet Musket Dated 1851 With Its Original Bayonet, In Nice Untouched Condition. Only 300 were delivered to the VMI Cadets. All original & complete with an original model 1851 cadet bayonet. The rare musket has very good metal & markings. The lock is clearly marked behind the hammer "SPRING/FIELD/1851" & in front of the hammer with an "EAGLE/US". The top of the barrel is also dated 1851, and has a large #7 stamped behind the date. All of the metal on the musket & bayonet is nice & untouched with an old darkened natural patinia on them. The musket has fine plus wood throughout with a fine grain and crisp edges on it. There is a very clear original U.S. inspectors cartouche on the back of the wood opposite the lock. The barrel is a smooth bore which is correct for this musket. It has its original ramrod in it. The musket has a tight action and a very good bore in it. This is A Very Scarce & Fine Looking Model 1851 U.S. Percussion "Virginia Military Institute" Example Of A Cadet Musket Dated 1851 With Its Original Bayonet.
