From a mid-west sale, a very nice Mule Ear percussion target rifle, 45 cal. The wood is super nice with amazing grain, cresent butt, right hand cheek piece and brass trigger guard, thimbles and side plate (see photos). The stock is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or damage and only a very few light handling marks. The barrel finish is a mottled brown patina with some oxidation (see photos). The gun is 52" over all length with a 36" full octagon barrel, 7/8" across the flats, has deep cut rifling (What I can see of the bore looks good....I have not cleaned this gun). There is a elevation and windage adjustable rear sight and a, blade replaceable, target front sight (see photos). The trigger is double set, adjustable, and is very crisp. The lock function as it should, has an extremely strong hammer sprig, no half cock and a super short hammer throw and a new nipple (see photos). The lock has a previous owners name etched in it and there are no maker or other marks on the gun (see photos). I do not know when this gun was made and there was no extra information about it at the sale.
