P.&E.W. Blake ~ Mod. 1816 Musket Pecussion Conversion ~ .69 Cal ~ Dated 1826
Description: Used. This is an interesting firearm, It was produced by P.& E.W. Blake out of New Haven Conneticut in 1826. This was a subcontractor that produced US Model 1816 Flintlock Muskets for either the Harpers Ferry Arsenal or Springfield Armory military contracts. This firearm was converted to percussion between 1841 and 1861 using the Begian "cone type" conversion. The barrel was cut down at some point and the original endcap was fitted to the stock. The firearm retains the now shortened ramrod. There is a tang date of 1826 that has had a curde V-Notch rear sight carved into it. There are remnants of US inspectors markings on the left side of the stock but the stock itself has been sanded down. There is a faint "P" marking on the left side of the barrel near the nipple and the buttplate is faintly maked U.S. This would make an interesting wall hanger or conversation piece. Hammer cocks back and functions.
