Description:
Sharps Model 1874 "Old Reliable" 45-70 Sporting Rifle. Manufactured by the Sharps rifle co., Bridgeport, Connecticut, c. 1876. The rifle features a .45-70 caliber 30" octagon barrel, single trigger, front bladed sight and rear Lawerence ladder style sight. The barrel is marked Old Reliable with along with the one-line marking Sharps Rifle Co. Bridgeport, Conn. Serial # 159464. The rifle has acquired an overall brown speckled patina without any pitting. The stocks shows period dings and dents and alligatoring to the original varnish.
