Tryon Model Mississippi Rifle dated 1846
Description: US Model 1841 Mississippi Rifle built by Tryon, Philadelphia PA. Only 5,000 produced under this contractor. Dated 1846 on lockplate and barrel tang. Original .54 Caliber Bore, original brass tipped ramrod, original sights. Brass furniture and patchbox. Compartment found with two original tools. Two stars carved in stock. Texas? Mexican American War Vintage. Heavy brown patina overall on metal with pinprick pits. There are some traces of original heat blue or blue case hardening on the hammer and just a little remaining on the lockplate. Inside the lock it has most of the original finish. Barrel has correct recessed proof "P" with NWP on barrel. Stock has two strong cartouches including the WAT. Brass has nice dark patina. Original sights.
