U.S. model 1816 Flintlock converted to 1829 Cap & Ball Musket
Description: We have been advised that this P.&E.W. Blake, New Haven 1829 cap &ball musket is likely a .69cal US M1816 flintlock musket converted to percussion. Made by Phineas & Eli Blake (believed to be the nephews of Eli Whitney) in New Haven, Connecticut. Likely it saw service early in the Civil War with Ohio state troops. Condition- Antique Very Good (60%). 36" bbl. Bore- +/- 0.700. Widows peak in center of buttplate. Top of plate marked "U.S." Also marked with 3 cartouches, 2 clearly marked "OHIO" left lock area and at top of wrist; also marked at left of lock. Brass plate in right side of lock.
