Description:
A clean working Goulcher Plains rifle with a 26" octagonal barrel, with a width of about .955", and a caliber of about .38cal, and clean rifled bore. The lock clearly marked Goulcher with foiliate and game scene chisel engraved .Front and rear sights .  Stock is very nicely populated with birdeye maple and has aged patina, and solid. Iron furniture and comes with a more recent hardwood ram-rod. Overall  a good example of mid-19th century plains rifle of about 1840 to 1850.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting.
