History of the Hamilton Rifle Company
The Hamilton Rifle Company was established in 1898 in Plymouth, Michigan, by Clarence J. Hamilton and his son Coello. Clarence, originally a watchmaker and inventor, had previously founded the Plymouth Iron Windmill Company in 1882. In the mid-1880s, he ventured into the air rifle market, leading to the creation of the Plymouth Air Rifle Company in 1888. However, after a devastating fire in 1894 and subsequent financial challenges, the company ceased operations. Hamilton then focused on firearms, founding the Hamilton Rifle Company in 1898. The company applied innovative manufacturing techniques to produce affordable .22 caliber rifles, notably the Model 27, which became synonymous with youth rifles of the early 20th century .
During World War II, the company shifted its focus to producing parts for the war effort. Post-war, with the decline in demand for youth rifles, the Hamilton Rifle Company ceased operations in 1945.

Condition: Blued barrel  turning to a nice antique brown patina finish.  — Receiver and trigger guard have turned to a nice looking antique gun-metal grey finish.  Barrel lockup is tight.   Hammer and trigger work very well – Oxidized bore showing slight minor pitting and strong rifling.  — Walnut stock and forearm are in very good condition with just some minor handling marks. The overall condition is very good.   Please judge for yourself from the photos. This is a take down model that attaches at the receiver. The rifle will come with a nice antique custom built wood case and 3 full boxes of vintage Winchester .22 ammo for display.
