Historic Experimental Remington Rolling Block 7MM Carbine from Remington Arms Museum
Description: Historic Experimental Remington Rolling Block 7MM Carbine from Remington Arms Museum Offered here for sale and just acquired is an historic antique Remington Rolling Block saddle ring carbine acquired from a prestigious arms collection and documented as having been a part of the Remington Museum collection of firearms. This specimen is an historic and rare Remington experimental Rolling Block saddle ring carbine, chambered in 7mm Mauser (7x57mm), and notably part of the esteemed John Amber Collection within the Remington Arms Museum. This rolling block saddle ring Carbine (Experimental) is chambered for the 7mm Mauser caliber and was originally part of the John Amber Collection on loan to the Remington Arms Museum. The John T. Amber Collection at the Remington Arms Museum was a significant assembly of firearms and related artifacts, reflecting Amber's profound impact on the world of firearm collecting and literature. The carbine carries an inventory Tag number – a brass plate marked #47, corresponding to its museum catalog number. It was also listed in one of Remington’s inventories as EXPERIMENTAL. The carbine measures 30 inches overall with a 20.5 inch barrel. Rolling Block (single-shot, strong and simple action). Excellent original condition. It retains all original bluing on barrel and has an excellent bore. It has large majority of original case coloring, typically fading slightly but all there. Appears not to have seen any use and well and carefully preserved. The 7mm Mauser chambering is unusual and indicative of Remington’s efforts to produce firearms tailored for foreign military contracts, particularly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries (especially for Latin America). The saddle ring signifies its intended use as a carbine, likely for cavalry or mounted troops. Its designation as experimental and inclusion in the Remington Arms Museum suggest it was never widely issued or mass-produced, enhancing its rarity. ?? Provenance and Documentation- Part of the John Amber Collection—John Amber was the longtime editor of Gun Digest and a respected firearms historian and collector. It was acquired decades ago into a private collection acquired at the sale of the John T. Amber collection of firearms in 1986 by Bourne Galleries and will accompany with a documentation letter from Hansen & Hansen, our well-known firearmsn and appraisal firm, confirming its acquisition from the museum and collection lineage. A superb collectible which should occupy a lofty position in any firearms collection particularly those who specialize in Remington arms. MM98xx Thanks for your bid.
