Type II Springfield Armory Model 1870 Navy Rifle
Description: This rifle is being sold as a shooter or for restoration. It is a Type II Springfield Armory Navy rolling block in .50-70. The primary issues are with the stocks. First, it has an incorrect buttstock. Solid and functional. Second, the forestock has largish slivers missing just behind nosecap. On the plus side, the action is tight and crisp. All metal has freckling, but no serious pitting. The bore has typical wide, shallow rifling with light grain showing throughout. A good scrubbing with Scotchbrite pad strips and polishing paste will take care of this. Or, fill grooves on bullets with polishing compound and shoot it. With the fully intact bayonet lug it might be worth restoration. $750 + Shipping. Price: $750.00 Contact Seller |
