COLT SP1 EARLY AR15 1965 PRODUCTION
Description: SOLD:This is an outstanding 1965 production Colt AR-15 SP1 semi-automatic rifle with excellent original finish. It has the early style upper receiver with no provisions for a forward assist and an early Colt "triangle" proof mark on the upper receiver. Cool serial number 05555 indicates production in 1965. This was the the first full year of Colt AR 15 production. It is fitted with the early original Colt marked parts such as the original non-chrome lined barrel with and "s 12" marking. The right side of the barrel beneath the sight post rings is stamped with the "M" and triangle Colt proofs. The barrel is fitted with the early three-prong flash hider. The bore is excellent. Early commercial Colt "slab side" bolt carrier lacks the notching on the side later added for the forward assist. The bolt is also the early Colt version that is all chrome plated . It retains its original internal parts. Original first generation old style, large head, two-piece 'Edgewater' recoil buffer is present. It is also fitted with it original slimmer black plastic pistol grip, early triangular handguards (early unmarked versions lacking the "R" and "L" on the inner aluminum shields.) Early style buttstock without the provisions for the internal storage compartment, that is correctly fitted with a solid rubber/plastic buttplate with no provisions for the later trap door. The gun is in fantastic shape with just a few specks of handling wear here and there - a couple of tiny scratches on the carry handle. It does not appear that the gun was shot more than a few times in its 59 year history. It would be very difficult to upgrade. 3-day inspections. $75 insured shipping in CONUS. FFL or C&R(where legal). No sales to states and/or municipalities where prohibited. Layaway is available. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
