"Lee-Enfield Converted S.M.L.E. / B.S.A. .22 Training Rifle – .22 LR (L2025-12772)
Description: "Serial No. D31752, originally manufactured by Enfield in 1897, later converted to S.M.L.E. configuration in 1910, and ultimately rebuilt as a .22 caliber training rifle by B.S.A. Co. prior to the Second World War. Chambered in .22 LR with a 25" round barrel, this rifle reflects the multi-stage evolution typical of British small-arms development as military forces transitioned older long-rifle patterns into specialized training arms. The rifle remains in very good overall condition with matching serial numbers and an excellent bore that retains sharp, clean rifling—indicative of limited and careful instructional use. The stock shows light handling impressions consistent with service as a training rifle rather than front-line deployment. Markings on the socket cup and receiver are clear and historically significant: the right-side reads “Crown / Enfield / 1897 / SHT.22 / IV*," while the left side is marked “Enfield / 1910 / Sht L.E. / COND IV." The receiver bears the B.S.A. logo, confirming its final conversion to .22 training configuration. Magazine internals have been removed as designed for this model, and the action is smooth and functions correctly. Price: $1,995.00 Contact Seller |
