ARMALITE AR-7 Explorer - .22LR
Description: EARLY - ORIGINAL ARMALITE AR-7 EXPLORER Costa Mesa, CA With box and “manual” Mfr: ARMALITE Model: EXPLORER Grips: PLASTIC Calibre: .22 LR Capacity: 8 rounds SN: 50311 Shipping Is $40 in the lower 48 only This is an EARLY ORIGINAL piece which is marked Patent Pending, before granting of the patent – this early piece uses the steel lined aluminum barrel and has been very lightly used. The original box and “instructions” (see photo) are included – box is a bit shopworn (see pix) but is solid. The Armaite AR-7 Explorer is a semi-automatic blowback operated firearm in .22 Long Rifle caliber and was developed by Gene Stoner in 1959 from the AR-5 that was adopted by the U.S. Air Force as a pilot and aircrew survival weapon.[1] The AR-7 was adopted and modified by the Israeli Air Force as an aircrew survival weapon in the 1980s. This piece has a honey brown plastic stock and of course floats (though we didn’t test that capability with this particular piece) – this item has the original magazine. The steel bolt uses dual recoil springs that are heavy compared to most other .22 semiautomatics and the AR-7 requires high velocity ammunition for reliable functioning. 40 grain round nose bullets in high velocity loadings were recommended by the manufacturer - you can manually load a single round into the firing chamber, allowing use of flat nosed bullets or low velocity or subsonic ammunition. ArmaLite sold the design to Charter Arms in 1973 (1973-1990) and the gun is now produced by Henry Repeating Arms (1997-present) - several other iterations occurred between Charter and Henry. We DO combine shipping if you see something else you might like) - we can hold for a bit before shipping in case you can find some of our other items for combined shipping rather than have to pay high shipping per item - MINIMUM shipping cost via UPS ground likely around $15-$16 unless you're right next door so might think about getting multiples - 2-3 boxes/tins won't cost much more than a single. Personal/business checks are fine but have to clear (2 weeks) before shipment NOTE: All items subject to prior sale as listed elsewhere as well SOLD Rifle Caliber: .22 Long Rifle Manufacturer: ARMALITE Model: AR-7 EXPLORER Serial Number: 50311 Condition: EXCELLENT + Metal Condition: EXCELLENT + Wood Condition: N/A |
