For your consideration, a Ballard Rifle & Cartridge Co. model 1883 "Elegant Light Hunter" chambered in .450-400 Nitro Express 3 inch. Based on the Winchester 1885 High Wall, this piece is a worthy inheritor of its legacy. Sighting consists of a bronze pip front with detent-retained hood and a windage and elevation adjustable express rear. The slightly plum-tone barrel and action contrast handsomely with genuine bone charcoal case coloring on the breechblock, lever, and trigger. Furniture is of high grade walnut appointed with hand checkering, a beaded pancake cheekpiece, a rubber buttpad, case colored grip cap, sling mounts, and an ebony forend tip. Addiitonally, the grip cap conceals a compartment containing a spare firing pin and alternate front sight. .450/400 Nitro Express
