Early Ballard Single Shot Rifle by Merwin and Brey
Description:
Here is a post Civil War Ballard made by Merwin and Brey. Caliber is 45-? with a good shooting bore. I've shot this rifle with light Carbine 45-70 rounds (blackpowder) and it worked fine. Wiping rod mounted under the barrel and a manual ejector there as well. Some of the lettering is worn beyond reading but the serial number shows clearly- 1237. Old original barrel and tang sights including a hooded front sight. Buffalo rifle? Probably but no way to prove it. A very nice well used 150 year old single shot requiring light loads if shot at all but a piece of firearms history. Shipping and insurance included in the price.
