Marlin Ballard Custom Target Rifle with Lyman Targetspot 10x Scope in .25-25 Stevens
Description: Serial #31006, .25-25 Stevens, 28 1/2" heavy octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very handsome rifle that has an original "MARLIN FIREARMS CO." marked, No. 1 frame that retains 98-99% of an excellent, reapplied color case-hardened finish that has some trace silvering along a few of the edges. The breechblock, hammer, and lever retain a commensurate amount of color case-hardening as well. The barrel is a more recent replacement and retains about 95-97% of the original blue, with thin silvering along the edges of the barrel facets, and some spots of mild surface oxidation on the face of the muzzle. The checkered walnut forend has a wide schnabel tip, with very few handling marks present, and only some very mild flattening of the points. The beautifully feathered schuetzen style buttstock has a hooked butt, high shadow-line cheek-piece, and finely checkered wrist. There is an old crack at the frame juncture of the wrist running back along the top of the wrist on the right side for an 1" or so. The rifle does not have provision for mounting iron sights, but is equipped with scope blocks and currently has a Lyman Targetspot 10x scope installed that has crisp and clear optics. The rifle weighs a bit over 15 lbs. and is in fine-excellent condition. Antique; SOLD Antique: Yes |
