1937 Winchester Pre 64 Model 70 22 Hornet Pre War **Beautiful Condition** SOLD
Description:
Very Nice Pre War Model 70 Winchester 22 Hornet. Manufactured in 1937, this is a handsome example of the "Rifleman's Rifle". This rifle features a period correct 6X Lyman Junior Target Spot scope that is in fine condition, with bright clear glass and dust free fine crosshairs. Also features a period correct Lyman receiver sight, which was a factory option. To find a 100% unmolested Pre War 70 is very difficult particularly in 22 Hornet, and this one is no exception. We have completely disassembled this rifle and checked all parts against both Roger Rule's and Dean Whitaker's Books. It has been re-chambered to 22 Kilbourn Hornet, which fortunately does allow for standard 22 hornet to fire through it. It does have two extra holes in the barrel for the front scope block. The rear bridge and bolt handle root have not been altered. The bolt face, clevis, exctractor, and magazine assembly remain unaltered. It retains the correct "H" marked floor plate. The bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling. The barreled action appears to be unmolested and retains 98% of it's original finish. The floor plate and trigger guard however appear to have been refinished at some point. The stock is very nice and is uncut, with no extra holes and the barrel channel and action mortise are unaltered. The stock appear as though it may have been touched up with oil finish, but not sanded or the checkering re-cut. Over all a very nice Pre War 70 Hornet that has fine look about it and is 100% functional and ready to shoot. Please call if you have any other questions about this item.
