Beretta 455 Express Sidelock .470 NE
Description:
This beautiful Beretta 455 Express sidelock is all original and was first purchased at the New York City Beretta Gallery in 2001. It has been featured in both The Double Gun Journal (see pictures) and Sporting Classics. Very accurate and only shot a few times, Beretta made 455s to the highest standards.
It has a case-hardened finish and the sidelocks are of the Holland and Holland type and hand-detachable. Its seared blocking device and articulated front trigger precludes the possibility of an accidental double discharge. The rifle weighs 11 pounds with its 25.625" chopper-lump Bohler steel barrels that were joined using the Deimibloc chamber system, 1/4" rib, 50 yard rear sight with a folding blade to easily adjust to 100 yards, ramp-up fixed front sight, ejectors, self-opening Holland and Holland action, grip cap, bushed firing pins, and non-automatic safety provides for positive on/off operation. The walnut wood is in excellent condition with a figured pistol-grip stock, a case-hardened steel trap door compartment in the toe of the butt for two spare rounds of ammo, and a rubber recoil pad. It has a splinter forend with a lever release. Stock dimensions: 14 3/4" x 1 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 1/8" cast off.
The lock plates have discreet gold inlay, engraved borders, and small cut wedges of English scroll. It has had very little usage and shoots brilliantly.
An original copy of the Double Journal featuring this particular gun will go to the buyer.
