1946 BRNO Model 21 Mannlicher Rifle in 8mm Mauser w/ Griffin & Howe Windage Adjustable Scope Mount
Description: This is one beautiful BRNO Model 21 Mannlicher rifle. Chambered in the popular 8mm Mauser, this rifle was made just after World War 2 ended in 1946. It displays fine craftsmanship and a beautiful design. This BRNO (CZ) Model 21 "full stock" Mannlicher features a 21" inch barrel, a spoon shaped bolt handle, a barrel band flip up rear sight with a barrel band drift-adjustable front ramped blade, a bolt mounted flip safety on the left side, a removable floorplate, and adjustable double-set triggers. A removable Griffin & Howe receiver mounted scope mount has been expertly attached to the receiver either at the factory or afterward. The full length Mannlicher stock is checkered Walnut and features a blued metal nosecap, a checkered metal pistol grip cap, sling swivels, a carved cheek piece, and a recently installed "Kick-Eez" pad. The rifle retains 95% plus of the original factory blue finish with only some very minor handling marks visible under close inspection, and some finish wear on the bolt handle. The action is smooth and the double set triggers work perfectly. The bore in this rifle is minty and bright. The rifling still looks sharp, and there is no pitting or erosion visible. The stock is also in excellent condition. It is free from cracks or repairs, and the checkered panels are still clean and attractive. The length of pull is 14.75" inches to the end of the pad. This rifle really excels when looking at the details. It definitely displays top-notch work typically seen in pre-war weapons. While there are many particular points of beauty on this rifle, the small ring receiver which is cross hatched with a raised "CZ" logo is an exceptional touch. Both the front and rear iron sights are mounted on barrel bands that were installed almost seamlessly. The fine checkering at the front of the floorplate, and the slender shape of the stock to the nosecap are some other features that make this rifle elegant and classy. As mentioned previously, this rifle also has a very fine scope mount on it. The removable 2-lever Grifiin & Howe scope mount is one of the scarce and desirable models that have adjustable windage. This was to allow the use of a period scope that only had elevation adjustments but could used as extra windage on a scope that has both. The rings are sized 26mm for the standard European scope of the period, rather than the standard 1" inch size in the U.S. The design is such that once zeroed-in, the scope can be quickly removed and re-installed without losing the "zero". Everything on this rifle works 100% like the day it left the BRNO factory 72 years ago. If you have been looking for a unique and classy full stocked rifle to add to your collection or to take afield, this BRNO Model 21 would be an excellent choice. It will surely turn heads wherever you shoot or display it.
