Antique “BROWN BESS” Flintlock YOUTH Sized Musket
A Very Neat .57 Caliber Musket
Here we present an antique Brown Bess Cadet Sized Flintlock Musket, made in England circa the late 1700s or early 1800s. This musket was clearly based on the British Brown Bess series of muskets that were Britain’s small arm of choice for their military from about 1722 to 1815. As such, it was natural for youth-sized examples to be marketable as boys emulate their fathers. This would have been a great piece for drill or practice shooting. Rather than a .75 caliber bore, 39-inch or great barrel length, this little musket is .57 caliber with a 33-inch barrel length, 47-inch overall length, and 12-1/2 inch length of pull. Birmingham proof marks are on the left side of the barrel. A neat and scarce little musket from turn of the century Britain!
The overall condition is very good. The iron parts have a bit of weathering with a blue-brown finish on top. The markings are legible. The stock is in very nice shape. The bore is smooth and dusty. The action is excellent.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
