Late 1956 or Early 1957 Belgian Browning Grade III Wheelsight SA22 in Tolex Case
Description: For sale from my Dad and I's personal collection is a very nice Belgium Browning SA-22 Grade 3 Wheel Sight in the very sought after Tolex Case. This example was produced in Late 1956 or early 1957 based on the T14068 SN on the inside face of the receiver. The engraving is quite nice but unsigned, wood quality is also very good with dark swirling grain present throughout! The wood remains in very good original condition with its factory open pore oil finish still present, some scattered handling marks mostly on the bottom of the stock. The barrel has areas of dried grease around the sight and a few light freckles here and there. The metal is excellent, retaining the original bright grey finish on the receiver with almost no signs of use or handling (has been re-inked). I believe there are 3 finishes Browning used of this style. A true coin, a chemical grey, and a baked grey (french grey) finish. The coin and chemical grey resemble a metal-like finish where the coin is more brilliant and shiny than the chemical grey, the french grey is more of a ceramic looking finish than a plated metal finish like coin or chemical grey. Original finish on a wheelsight 22 from 1954-1959/60 would be coin or chemical grey, NOT french grey. The case is excellent with no tears or damage present, the interior is also nice and has vibrant color still! I would call both the gun and the case about 8/10 which is pretty hard to beat for these older examples in original condition, most have been refinished/restocked over the years and the few that haven't are usually pretty used up. Vintage firearms are a passion of mine. I am more than happy to provide any insight or info that I can regarding vintage Brownings and Colts you may have questions or concerns about. Do not hesitate to call/text me at 402-314-2729 even if it is not about the gun I have for sale! Love talking with people who have an appreciation for them, sharing my knowledge, and learning more when I can. Lots of dishonest sellers out there, be careful when collecting and investing in these vintage pieces! From a large collection of fine firearms accumulated by my Dad and I over the last 30 years. I provide a 5 day inspection period to ensure you are happy with everything and that I was accurate in my description and photographs. I hope to find good homes where these collectible pieces will be appreciated and enjoyed. Shipping is a flat $100 to lower 48 (PRIORITY MAIL, INSURED FOR THE VALUE OF THE GUN, INDIVIDUAL TO FFL SHIPMENT), NO MORE PAYPAL! Local sale requires NE purchase permit or conceal carry permit. Otherwise will need transferred through local FFL Thank you for looking and have a wonderful day! SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .22 Long Rifle Manufacturer: Browning |
