The Browning Model 71 is excellent rifle for most North American critters, and will serve admirably for any purpose from target shooting to pest control to big game hunting. Originally designed to replace the 1886 and the 1895, it was chambered in a propriety cartridge designed to replace half a dozen "big bore" cartridges. This deep woods rifle features smooth stock, steel fore end cap, and steel butt plate. The rear sight has been replaced with an appropriate plug and a receiver mounted peep sight.
