Browning Model 71 Lever Action Rifle in .348 Winchester caliber.
SALE PENDING
Description: This listing is for a Browning Model 71 rifle chambered in .348 Winchester caliber. This is one of the limited production run of 3,000 grade 1 Browning model 71 rifles (24" barrel) made in 1987. This 37 year old rifle remains in excellent, near new condition as can be seen in the photos. It does not even show any scratches nor brass smudges on the loading gate. It has been fired a little, but not much. When it was fired, fairly mild hand loads were used. The rifle was never hunted with nor was it ever exposed to the elements. Except on the occasions when it was fired at a local rifle range, it has been stored in a gun safe. Browning's B. C. Miroku made reproduction of the standard grade Winchester Model 71 stayed fairly true to the original 71's which were made from 1935 through 1957. In 2012 Winchester offered a limited production run of Miroku made standard grade Model 71s. These 2012 vintage rifles deviated from the original Winchester 71's and the Browning 71's by having the addition of a thumb operated sliding safety on the top tang. Some people found the tang mounted safety acceptable. Other individuals wanting a Model 71 reproduction prefer the Browning rifles which were true to the original Winchester design, that is no tang safety. The Browning Model 71 offered here does not have the tang mounted safety and closely follows the original Model 71 design. This rifle has the factory installed hooded ramp front sight with a brass bead. The original Standard model open rear barrel sight was replaced with a Lyman Folding Leaf Sight. This change was made to facilitate use of a receiver sight. The original factory Standard open sight (photo # 14) is included with the rifle. The receiver of the rifle is equipped with a Redfield No. 70 Micrometer Receiver Sight. Browning Model 71 rifles were drilled and tapped at the factory for receiver sights. Therefor no alterations to the rifle frame were necessary for installation of the Redfield receiver sight. Redfield No. 70 receiver sights are high quality all steel sights. They feature quarter-minute click adjustment on both elevation and windage. The No. 70 sight on this rifle has Redfield's hunter style rounded knobs which can be adjusted with a coin, i.e., penny, dime, etc. Redfield No. 70 sights went out of production in 1964. The correct model receiver sights for use on large frame Winchester and Browning 1886 & 71 rifles can be difficult to find and costly. The sight on this rifle was used but in good condition. Additional notable features of this rifle are all steel construction including the checkered butt plate, deep high gloss blueing, decently figured well finished walnut stock and forearm. The rifle comes with the original Browning box serial numbered to the rifle and a Browning 71 information booklet. This Browning Model 71 Rifle would please a collector, a shooter or a hunter desiring a hard hitting lever action rifle powerful enough for all north American game. A frequently asked question on a used rifle is "how much was it shot? I had 100 new cartridge cases in a 100 round MTM Case Guard plastic box. I was handloading these cases in small batches. A number of years ago I completed firing the last of these cartridges. So the answer to that question would be 100 times and with mild hand loads. It is the buyers responsibility to ensure receiving a lever action rifle is legal in their state and local area. Further, the buyer must furnish me with a copy of the dealer's FFL who will be handling the gun transfer. You will need to be sure the FFL holder accepts shipments from a private party. The last thing you want is a gun delivered to your FFL holder who can not, or will not, transfer the rifle to you. Any and all requirements of this FFL holder which affect me (the shipper) need to be communicated to me before the rifle is packaged for shipment. For shipment the rifle will be securely packaged in its original factory box. Additionally, the factory box will be enclosed in a corrugated shipping carton. The flat rate shipping charge is $90.00 to the lower contiguous 47 states. No sales to CA. The $90.00 shipping charge will include insurance through the delivering carrier against loss or any shipping damage. I am a private party. I am not a gun dealer nor an amateur gun trader. As such I am not set up to take credit cards, PayPal, personal checks, etc. I accept Postal Money Orders, other Money Orders and Bank Cashier's Checks for payment. Shipment will be made very promptly for Postal Money Orders. Other forms of Money Orders may take a few days longer to clear my bank. Personal or business checks will not be accepted. A "no shooting" and "no disassembly" 3 day from date of delivery to your FFL holder inspection period applies. If the rifle is sent back the initial shipping & insurance charge will not be returned. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Email works best as hearing loss incurred over time on my end make telephone conversations difficult for both parties. Thank you for looking at the listing. Price: $1,750.00 Rifle Caliber: .348 Winchester Contact Seller |
