BROWNING SA-22 GRADE 3 SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE .22 LONG RIFLE - MAGIS ENGRAVED

MAGIS ENGRAVED, 19-1/4" ROUND BLUED BARREL, FOLDING LEAF REAR SIGHT, BLADE FRONT SIGHT, PISTOL GRIP,  13-3/4" LOP,  STEEL BUTTPLATE, 5 LBS - 3 OZ

Semi-Automatic take-down sporting rifle chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge by Browning. It has a 19-1/4” round blued steel barrel. The rear sight is a folding U-notch leaf with a white diamond aiming reference dovetailed to the rear of the barrel. The notch is fine adjustable for elevation. The front sight is a brass tipped blade dovetailed onto the barrel. The top of the barrel is drilled, tapped and filled for an optic mount (not included). The left side of the barrel is roll marked "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q." / "MADE IN JAPAN", the right side of the barrel is roll marked "CALIBER .22 LONG RIFLE" / "BROWNING PATENTS". The take-down semi-automatic action features a gold washed smooth single trigger, cross-bolt safety and a tubular magazine. The French grey finished receiver is beautifully adorned with game scenes and supporting foliate scrolls engraving signed by FN's master engraver Marie Louise Magis. Left Side of the receiver features a setter flushing pheasants in a field along with the engraver's signature "MAGIS", right side of the receiver has a setter flushing ducks in a marsh while the top of the receiver has a Labrador Retriever with a duck in its mouth. Gloss finished extra deluxe walnut pistol hand grip stock with 2-panel skip-line checkering on grip and wrap around skip-line checkering on forearm. 13-3/4" LOP to a serrated steel blued buttplate. 5 Lbs. - 3 Oz.

This example is from 1975 and it a transitional model. Its receiver was made in Belgium by FN and its Grade 3 hand engraving on its grey receiver was performed by FN’s master engraver Marie Louise Magis. The receiver was then sent to Japan for final assembly.
