BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) ROYAL Featherweight rifle 30-06 w/ Parker Hale mounts
Description: ***SALE PENDING*** Excellent BSA Royal Featherweight rifle in 30-06 caliber. One of my all-time favorites, and a very sharp example of this little known sporting rifle. It is identical (although in much better shape) to the one that I carried confidently for many years as a sheep hunting guide here in Alaska. These BSA Royals were outstanding, quality made hunting rifles never to be confused with either the early military stuff nor the later production, mass produced push feed rifles in the BSA line. They are wonderfully light at just a tad over 6 pounds, shoulder and point beautifully, and perform flawlessly due to their quality construction and robust CLAW extractor. They are certainly among the sleekest and finest handling of sporting rifles, yet are practically unknown and greatly underappreciated by the average American sportsman due to the very low number of them that are in circulation. Several of the well known and highly experienced guides here in Alaska carried these in favor of the Winchester 70 featherweights during the same mid to late 1950s period when either were easily obtainable. The specs on this one are as follows: S/N 7D384 made in England during the mid 1950s. 22" slim profile barrel with a very unique factory milled and counterbored muzzle break (aka fish gills), slender stock with sculpted Schnabel fore-end tip and original small cross pin in receiver area for strength, factory scalloped left receiver wall for weight reduction, factory scalloped and drilled bolt handle also for weight reduction, and factory dovetailed receiver top with detent specifically designed to accept the superb (and very expensive) Parker Hale scope mounts which are also INCLUDED. 98% Blue, 96% Varnish. The bore shows strong rifling, although does have some visible erosion in the grooves toward the muzzle end. All mechanical functions are excellent. Please add $75 for expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
