CIVIL WAR Antique BURNSIDE U.S. Contract SPENCER M1865 Saddle Ring CARBINE
Classic Union Army Carbine Made in Providence, RI
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique BURNSIDE U.S. Contract SPENCER M1865 Saddle Ring CARBINE Classic Union Army Carbine Made in Providence, RI Here we present an antique U.S. Burnside Contract Spencer Model 1865 Carbine, made circa 1865 by contract by the Burnside Rifle Company in Providence, Rhode Island. The Spencer was a very successful carbine that was desirable on Civil War battlefields due to its handy size, accuracy, and rate of fire. The magazine tube in the butt holds 7 shots and a captured Confederate soldier is quoted as saying that you “load in the morning and fire all day!” The inventor, Christian Spencer, had the unique opportunity to personally instruct President Abraham Lincoln as he test-fired the rifle, resulting in more military sales. This specimen is one of the Burnside Contract, making it scarcer than those made by the Spencer Repeating Rifle Company. Out of the 34,000 made by Burnside, over 30,000 were purchased by the U.S. government. The overall condition is very good. Original finish/patina. The action is excellent and the bore is in fine condition: shiny bright with sharp rifling. The walnut stock shows two cartouches on the left wrist. There is a stable split on either side of the magazine tube on the butt stock; otherwise in good condition and solid. Three notches were carved into the underside of the stock between the rear of the lever and the sling swivel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 20 inches. Caliber: .50 Spencer Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3300 #230069 SOLD Antique: Yes |
