Civil War Era BURNSIDE Saddle Ring Carbine Rifle ~ .54 Cal ~ Working Example

Description:
We are offering for a sale an antique BURNSIDE Patent SADDLE RING CARBINE rifle chambered in .54 Burnside caliber. This breech loading rifle saw widespread use during the Civil War. This rifle has a patent date of 1856. The gun remains in very good functioning condition. Matching serial numbers!

21” barrel is very good with greyed finish. The bore remains bright with very good, crisp rifling. The crown is marked “Cast Steel 186?”. Sight intact however rear flip sight is missing half of the “3” sight. Receiver is very good with greyed finish. Saddle ring and bar excellent. Crisp markings. SN# 27836. Trigger guard lever functions properly and lowers breech block for loading. Hammer cocks and fires properly. Shoulder stock remains very good with field wear; No breaks or cracks. Fore-end is good with some top edge splintering mainly around barrel band. Original buttplate intact.
