1800's 2 1/4" Cast Iron Lead Ball Mold
Description: This is a very rare 1800's 2 1/4" Cast Iron Lead Ball Mold. The mold is 8" long with a 4" handle, 4" tall with a 3" diameter funnel opening and casts a 2 1/4" ball. Over-all condition is very good to excellent with light oxidation inside the haves of the mold, the handles have been drilled for the addition of wooden extentions. In our research we found the CS Mountain gun to have the correct size barrel diameter for this ball along with many of the grape or quilted canister shots for larger guns. This mold is unmarked and could be of Confederate origin and appears to be well cast and finished. SOLD |
