C Daly Prussian Rifle in .22 Hornet- MUST SEE PHOTOS
Description: /////SOLD/////- Charles Daly Prussian .22 Hornet in incredible condition- stunning detail- defines "custom rifle". SN# 15108 These interesting rifles were built on a “Herold” patent action, proprietary name for Franz Jaeger & Co of Suhl. This well built rifle is typical of the few known, in that it has 24″ tapered round bbl with two folding leaf front in island base, and silver bead front in matted, banded-on ramp. Top of rear is marked with caliber, left rear “Charles Daly”, and right rear with “Krupp Steel”. Right side in front of sight is engraved “Made in Prussia”. Action with enclosed bolt and double claw extractor system, has wiggle border engraving and matted top. It is fitted with Lyman 57 receiver sight. Bolt with checkered round knob has low flag safety. Bottom metal with hinged floorplate and intricate machined magazine, is marked “U.S.A. PATENT” along with German patent designations. Action is fitted with double set triggers. Steel trigger guard with wiggle border engraving, has SN at tip of tang. All other known (GGCA) Hornet Repeaters (4 of them) are in this SN range. Nicely fiddle figured and well streaked European walnut horn capped pistol grip stock measures 13-5/8″ over serrated horn buttplate. Stock features right hand cheekpiece, horn forend tip, well cut point pattern checkering with double line borders at grip and wrapping around forend, as well as a vacant silver oval and sling loop on toe line, which matches that on forend. Drop at heel: approx 2-1/2″, drop at comb: approx 1-3/4″. Weight: 7 lbs 11 oz. LOP: 13-5/8″. CONDITION: Excellent. This hard to find Daly offering is in exceptional, as found, orig condition with no customizing or refinishing evident. Metal parts retain over 90% orig blue which is exceptionally strong on bbl and action. Floorplate is somewhat silvered. Stock retains essentially all of its orig finish with a few light marks. Checkering has very little wear. Horn is in excellent condition, with only some slight chips and some infill of what may be insect damage on buttplate. Bore is excellent, near mint. Action is smooth and crisp. In 1932 this rifle retailed for $113.50 with Lyman sight. Endless detail from one end to the other in outstanding condition-Elegant hand engraving, drop leafs, adj peep, double sets, she has it all. Another outstanding piece from The Greene Collection. What is 'The Greene Collection'? A man that has built a collection that represents the best of my finds and his own over decades of collecting. A collector with a true love of the gun, fine craftsmanship and impeccable taste spanning all genres and dates that simply enjoyed acquiring the very best. It is with great pride that I represent his collection over the coming months. WHY CALL? My name is August and I am the owner. As an authorized dealer I must adhere to published retail pricing guidelines. You will get the absolute lowest delivered price by calling my direct line. 512-567-7855. You will get much more than that however. I want you to get the right gun both for you and your application. You won't be passed off to a clerk, rather you will speak directly to ME. Have the confidence you are buying the exact gun you need for your goals by discussing it with a master class competitor, instructor and fitter with over 40 years of experience in the shooting sports. I know the guns I sell and their makers. I visit them all and have relationships with their owners and gunsmiths. You will know what you are getting and be happy when you do. Thank you A TRULY DIFFERENT BUYING EXPERIENCE We are not open to the public so your gun has not been handled unlike retailers where guns are endlessly handled, slammed shut and clacked back on a rack countless times by the masses. I have managed firearms retail and could not stand this aspect of it. When you receive a gun from me it’s been packed with care and arrives as your NEW GUN. One person handles each gun from the time it arrives until it leaves and that is me. When a gun is sold it gets properly packed that day, by me with FedEx tracking sent to my client immediately. I contact your FFL FOR YOU, and handle all the paperwork. California? No problem, I have been shipping there for over a decade. Canada and Australia- have sent many there, just ask for details. Buying a fine gun should be fun and exciting. I don't want to sell you one gun, I want your business for life and want your referrals from building trust. I have been the largest seller of Caesar Guerini, Syren and Fabarms for the 5th straight year because of service and value. This is my model and I hope you give me a call. THANK YOU for reading.
