This Sharps New Model 1863 carbine has the ""been there, done that"" look. The metal is all brown with light pitting in the breech area. The bore is poor. The sights and bar and ring are intact. The upper tang is broken (but there) at the front screw. The butt stock is fair with battle wear, a stable 3.5"" age crack from the lower rear tang screw, chipped toe, chipping and wear around the butt plate, wear and erosion along the comb, , a crack on either side of the upper tang, and a chip at the upper left intersection with the frame. The patch box is smooth with finish added and a small age crack running forward of the front screw. The forend is good with a chip at the attachment screw. The action is tight but functions. If only this Sharps carbine could talk!
