This 52 caliber Sharps New Model 1863 percussion carbine is in very good condition. The metal is a smooth plum brown and the receiver case colors have turned silver-gray.. The receiver has the standard Sharps and patent markings on the left and right sides. The serial number is present on the upper tang. The bore is fine to excellent with bright, strong rifling. The barrel is inspected by M.N.M. on the left. It has the standard Sharps and New Model markings on the top. The sights and sling bar and ring are intact. The butt stock is very good with no chips or cracks, light issue wear, and a cartouche below the sling ring bar. The forend is very good with moderate issue dents and dings toward the front. The action functions correctly and the pellet primer mechanism is intact. This is a much better than average Sharps Civil War carbine.
