An Early U.S. Civil War Military Issued 5th Model Burnside Carbine In Excellent Untouched Condition. All original and complete. Serial #15,200 on the frame and 16,316 on the top of the breech. This is most likely a field repair or mixup during cleaning the carbine in the field. This would happen if carbines were being cleaned in the field when a skirmish broke out. The carbine has excellent metal, markings and edges throughout. The lock, hammer, frame, butt plate and breech all retain most of their original case colors. The barrel , lever, top tang, and bottom tang all retain their original bright factory blue on them. The original wood is fine plus to excellent throughout with a wonderful color and grain to it. it has a couple of natural dings in it. The carbine has an excellent bore and tight action in it. This Is A Very High Condition U.S. Civil War Military Issued 5th Model Burnside Carbine That Would Be A Great Addition To Any Civil War Collection!
