ANTIQUE SHARPS New Model 1863 .50-70 GOVT Carbine
Description: ANTIQUE SHARPS New Model 1863 .50-70 GOVT Carbine Classic Old West Saddle Ring Carbine Here we present an antique Sharps New Model 1863 Carbine, made circa 1863, then converted to 50-70 Govt circa 1867 for use in the West by the federal government. Over 100,000 Sharps rifles and carbines were purchased and used by the federal government during the American Civil War, and afterward, the U.S. contracted with Sharps to convert them at the factory to shoot metallic cartridges. Just over 31,000 firearms were converted in this manner, in several different variants. They went on to experience some of the most exciting times in American history during the Indian Wars, the settling of the West, and the connecting of the coasts with the railroad. This historical carbine would make a very nice item for display. It is not currently functional and has certainly seen hard use. There is no tension in the mainspring. Bore is in good shape, dusty with good rifling. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 22 inches. Caliber: .50-70 GOVT Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1650 #7397 SOLD Antique: Yes |
