CIVIL WAR ... STARR CARTRIDGE SADDLE RING CARBINE ... NICE Condition ... LAYAWAY?
Description: LAYAWAY?...Only 5002 made by the Starr Arms Co. in Yonkers, New York, in 1865. Maker legend stamped on barrel with patent legends stamped on rear. Lock is stamped "Starr Arms". Features a round barrel, iron barrel band, case color buttplate, lock, hammer and frame, saddle ring and stud, post front sight, folding leaf rear sight, and walnut stock and forearm. The first 1000 of these carbines were delivered on March 9, 1865, exactly one month to the day the Civil War ended. Another 2000 were delivered on April 10, one day after the war ended. SN 30326 CONDITION: Fine. There is some nice case color on top of butt plate and flashes as ell but mostly darkened and patterned. The barrel is a butter smooth grey patina. Stocks are excellent with some scattered dings. The left side of stock has a visible cartouche but no totally legible. Bore is razor sharp with some residue.
