Civil War Burnside 5th Model Cavalry Carbine

Serial #25047, .54 Caliber, 21" barrel with a good bore that has patches of dark pitting within the grooves. This is a good-looking carbine that has an overall mottled plum-brown patina with gray fading along the sides of the breechblock and lever. The walnut forend and buttstock have numerous small handling blemishes scattered throughout, as well as some bruises and larger blemishes, especially on the belly of the stock and on the forend. The saddle-ring is no longer present. The mechanical lock-up is solid and the action functions well. This is a good example of a Civil War Burnside, and would make a great representative example for a collection. Antique
