Civil War Smith Cavalry Carbine Excellent
Description: Serial #1199, .50 Caliber, 21 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. The barrel has most of the original blue remaining, with some specks of very mild freckling, and trace silvering on the breech facets. The frame has 90-95% of the original color case-hardening remaining, with the balance turning to a smooth, plum-brown patina. The barrel lock spring has most of the original bright fire blue remaining, and the brass opener has ochre-yellow patina. The walnut stock and forend have an excellent original finish with scattered small handling marks and blemishes, as well as crisp inspector cartouches on the left side of the wrist, and underside of the forend. The barrel lock-up is rock solid and the mechanism is fully functional. This is a wonderful looking Smith cavalry carbine, and would make a great addition to any collection.
