Civil War Smith Cavalry Carbine
Description: Serial #9432, .50 Caliber, 21 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. The barrel has most of the original blue remaining that has started to blend with minute specks of plum-brown freckling with some very mild silvering at the muzzle and along the edges of the breech facets. The frame has 60-70% of the original bright color case-hardening remaining, and mottled gray-brown on the balance. The sling bar and ring are mostly a mottled gray-brown color, the barrel lock spring retains most of its original bright blue under thin freckling, and the brass opener has an ochre-yellow patina. The walnut stock and forend have an excellent added oil finish over non-sanded wood with scattered small handling marks and blemishes, as well as crisp inspector cartouches on the left side of the wrist. The barrel lock-up is rock solid and the mechanism is fully functional. This is a fantastic looking Smith and is in excellent condition overall.
